How Priya Approaches Confidence Building
A deeper look into her philosophy, methods, and what drives her work with professionals across Malaysia
What sparked your journey into confidence coaching?
I was working in HR at a Kuala Lumpur investment firm, and I kept seeing the same pattern over and over. Talented people — genuinely skilled professionals — were being held back by self-doubt and imposter syndrome. I’d watch someone brilliant in a one-on-one meeting completely freeze when presenting to leadership. That gap between actual capability and how people showed up started bothering me. So I decided to dive deeper. I completed my Master’s in Industrial-Organizational Psychology at Universiti Malaya in 2010, then pursued advanced certifications with the International Coach Federation. The more I learned about how confidence actually works — it’s not arrogance or personality, it’s a skill you can develop — the more I knew this was what I needed to do full-time.
What makes your approach different from other confidence programs?
Most confidence training is either too surface-level — “just be yourself” — or too clinical. What I do combines cognitive behavioral techniques with emotional intelligence development and real workplace scenarios. We don’t just talk about confidence in the abstract. We work through actual situations people face: how to speak up in a room full of senior executives, how to negotiate without feeling aggressive, how to recover after a mistake without spiraling. I use evidence-based coaching methods, but everything’s grounded in what actually happens at work. The Confidence Blueprint program we developed at Elevate takes people through a structured process that addresses both the internal beliefs and the external behaviors. You can’t just fix one and expect lasting change.
Tell us about the Confidence Blueprint. How does it work?
The Confidence Blueprint is a comprehensive framework that walks professionals through five core pillars: self-awareness, belief restructuring, communication mastery, presence development, and sustained confidence maintenance. It’s not a one-off workshop. We start with individual assessments to understand where someone’s confidence gaps actually are. Then we move into group workshops where people learn the frameworks, followed by one-on-one coaching sessions where they apply what they’ve learned to their specific situations. We track measurable shifts — things like how often someone speaks in meetings, the quality of their contributions, their comfort with visibility and recognition. The program’s designed to create sustainable change. That’s why we’re seeing 92% satisfaction rates and real career progression among our participants. People aren’t just feeling more confident; they’re getting promoted, taking on bigger roles, and leading differently.
What do you see as the biggest confidence barrier for Malaysian professionals?
Honestly? There’s a cultural layer here. In many Asian professional contexts, there’s an emphasis on not standing out, not drawing attention to yourself. That can work against confidence. I see brilliant professionals — especially women — who’ve internalized this idea that being assertive or visible is somehow wrong or immodest. I’ve also worked with rising managers who are technically excellent but struggle with imposter syndrome because they’re comparing themselves to older, more established leaders. And in the tech and finance sectors, where change happens so fast, people constantly feel like they’re not enough. They’re learning new systems, new markets, new technologies, and that ongoing learning can feel like they’re always behind. My job is helping them understand that confidence isn’t about being perfect or having all the answers. It’s about being willing to learn, willing to be seen, and willing to take up the space you’ve earned.
What’s one thing you’d want every professional to know?
Self-doubt doesn’t mean you’re not capable. It means you’re human. I’ve coached C-suite executives who still experience imposter syndrome. The difference between someone who’s stuck and someone who’s thriving isn’t that the thriving person doesn’t have doubt — it’s that they’ve learned to act anyway. Confidence is an action, not a feeling. You don’t wait until you feel confident to speak up, to lead, to take on a challenge. You practice the behavior, you get feedback, you refine it, and confidence builds from there. Too many talented people are waiting for permission or certainty that will never come. What I try to teach is that you can start today. You can be nervous and still be effective. You can doubt yourself and still contribute meaningfully. That’s where real growth happens.

What Drives Priya’s Work
The Transformation Moment
What keeps Priya in this work is witnessing the moment when someone shifts from self-doubt to possibility. She’s seen it happen dozens of times. A manager who was terrified to present to the board delivers a confident pitch and gets the green light on their proposal. A team member who used to shrink in meetings becomes the person others listen to. A professional stuck in an undervalued role finally negotiates the promotion they deserve.
These aren’t small wins. They’re life-changing. And they don’t happen because someone suddenly became a different person. They happen because someone learned to access the capability and confidence that was already there.
Why It Matters in Malaysia
Malaysia’s professional landscape is competitive and fast-moving. The financial sector is global. Tech talent is in high demand. Healthcare professionals are stretched thin. In this environment, visibility and confident communication aren’t just nice-to-haves — they’re critical for career advancement. Yet many talented professionals aren’t equipped with the tools to show up that way. Priya’s mission is to bridge that gap. She believes every professional deserves access to confidence coaching, not just C-suite executives.
The Evidence-Based Approach
Priya doesn’t believe in quick fixes or motivational fluff. Her methods are grounded in organizational psychology, behavioral science, and what actually works in real workplaces. She tracks outcomes. She measures progress. She adjusts approaches based on what the research shows. This commitment to rigor is what sets her apart. Her clients aren’t just feeling better — they’re performing better, and it’s measurable.
